That “New Decade” Feeling

Email Newsletter for Next Gen Men

If there’s anything I want to spread with our first newsletter of 2020, it would be hope.

This month marks the beginning of both a new year and a new decade. That’s literally not something that happens every day.

Sure, time is just a social construct. So is gender. If we didn’t know that social constructs can be reworked to serve us better, I wouldn’t be writing this and you wouldn’t be reading it.

A new decade can be whatever we need it to be.

A blank slate. A big idea. A change in the proverbial winds.

It can still be all those things despite the ugly and scary things happening (“already”) on the news. Rising above the world’s disheartening noise doesn’t mean tuning it out.

So let’s put this social construct to work for us. Let’s go back to that hot minute where “the decade” wasn’t even a day old, and we were looking forward to 3,649 more opportunities to leave this world better than we found it.

Let’s hold onto that hope a little longer, and see what we can do with it.

Happy New Year,

Jake
